Objectives
This programme aims to cultivate high-calibre researchers in Portuguese studies with outstanding academic competence and a forward-looking scholarly perspective. It is committed to advancing original and influential research in three key areas: Portuguese language education, the literatures and cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world, and Chinese–Portuguese translation studies Through systematic and rigorous academic training, the programme enables students to develop a deep understanding of the theoretical frameworks and research methodologies in their respective fields, while strengthening their ability to undertake high-level independent research and produce innovative scholarly work. Particular emphasis is placed on enhancing students’ intercultural understanding and interdisciplinary capacity, so that their research can contribute meaningfully to academic dialogue between China and the Portuguese-speaking world, while also addressing regional and global issues. Drawing on the University’s close collaborative network with leading academic institutions in Portuguese-speaking countries, the programme provides students with rich international academic resources and exchange opportunities, thereby enhancing their ability to publish and engage in dialogue within leading international academic communities.
