MPU Students Support Blood Donation, Practising Civic Responsibility
To strengthen students’ civic awareness and sense of social responsibility, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) organised a “Blood Donation Activity” at the Blood Donation Centre of the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR Government. Students practised civic responsibility by donating blood, and activity drew enthusiastic participation of local, Chinese mainland, and international students and concluded in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
Under the guidance of doctors, nurses, and staff at the Blood Donation Centre, students successfully completed registration, health questionnaires, blood testing and medical assessments, and gained a thorough understanding of the precautions required before donating blood, preparing themselves well for the process. Ana, a student of the Bachelor of Chinese-Portuguese Translation and Interpretation, shared her experience of donating blood for the first time. With the companionship and encouragement of her classmates, she got the courage to complete her first-ever blood donation, deeply realising that love and dedication can transcend cultural and national boundaries. Chi Xiaohang, a doctoral student in Computer Applied Technology, remarked that the blood donation activity was meaningful and hoped that this act of kindness would bring hope and warmth to others.
Alice Lao Weng Ian, Head of the Student Affairs Office, stated that Macao Polytechnic University is committed to promoting holistic education for students. The university continuously collaborates with government departments, social service organisations and enterprises to plan and implement diverse activities for students’ all-around development. Students are encouraged to actively engage in social affairs and fulfil their civic responsibilities. Through service and practice, students broaden their horizons, cultivate character, and foster a solid foundation for their personal growth and future career development.
