MPU hosts “Kindling Hope” inspection visit to Qingyuan to cultivate national sentiment among students
To enhance university students’ understanding on national development and to bond ties with alumni and students, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) organised the “Kindling Hope” inspection visit to Qingyuan in Guangdong Province. This initiative brought together 20 students and alumni for a cultural exploration aiming to strengthen students’ patriotism, foster connections and practise social responsibility via first-hand experiences.
During this trip, MPU students visited rural families in Datangping Village of Yingde District, Qingyuan, engaging in meaningful interactions with local residents and students. The visiting group prepared stationery and daily necessities for the families, showing care and exchanging thoughts. The communication enriched their understanding of local living conditions and the educational experiences of students, allowing them to feel reciprocal effects from sharing and caring for others. The group also explored the culture of the Yao ethnic community and the unique karst landscapes, appreciating the charm of the nation’s landscapes and experiencing the regional customs of Southern China.
Alice Lao, the head of the Student Affairs Office, stated that the University will continue to launch a series of activities that integrate patriotic education and care for society, as well as to promote whole-person development and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Participants said that rural families showed strong resilience and kindness, which has touched them greatly, and they planned to transform this inspiration into ongoing motivation and care for all in their everyday lives.
